2. Conceit (n): When you are too proud of yourself and your actions.
The conceit of that man is incredible.
3. Adherence (n): When someone acts strictly according to rules, beliefs, etc.
He was noted for his strict adherence to the rules.
4. Intoxication (n): The condition of being drunk.
He used to claim that he had his best ideas after several days of intoxication.
5. Intervene (v): To intentionally become involved in a difficult situation in order to improve it or prevent it from getting worse.

The airline regularly offers last-minute bookings at bargain prices.
7. Yolk (n): The yellow, middle part of an egg.

The first step in empowering the poorest sections is making sure they vote.
9. Evoke (v): To make someone remember something or feel an emotion.
That smell always evokes memories of my old school.
10. Dubious (adj): Thought not to be completely true or not be able to be trusted.
These claims are dubious and not scientifically proven.
11. Cherish (c): To love, protect and care for someone or something that is important to you.
Although I cherish my children, I do allow them their independence.
12. Nourish (v): To provide people or living things with food in order to make them grow and keep them healthy.
Children need plenty of good fresh food to nourish them.
13. Espouse (v): To become involved with or support an activity or opinion.
Vegetarianism is one cause she does not espouse.
14. Defy (v): To refuse to obey a person, decision, law, situation, etc.
Children openly defied the rules made by the teachers.
15. Pursue (v): To follow someone or something, usually to try to catch or kill them.
The car was pursued by helicopters.
