Cluster
Cluster means, collection of homogenous nodes or machines. When same kinds of machines are grouped together to completethe task of any organization’s specific department, cluster is used. All machines in the grid are locally networked and the resources are of the same architecture and operating systems.Selecting the application software and security policies for cluster grid is usually simple compared to other abstruse types. Cluster is used for only one department of an organization. For example, any department in an organization is known as cluster.
Intragrid
Intragrid means, collection of heterogeneous nodes or machines. The grid system incorporates the job scheduling components by which grid functions in an efficient manner. Here, there can be multiple departments connected to grid provided they are from the same organization.
As department augments, maintenance of a grid also increases. For example, there may be polices that defines which department’s priority is high. Also, security becomes an important issue when numbers of departments are coherent. Sensitive data can be circumscribed to access from other departments. Dedicated grid machines may be added to increase the quality of service for grid computing, rather than depending on scavenged resources. For example, one organization and multiple departments in it connected to each other.
Intergrid
The primary characteristics of an Intergrid incorporate dispersed security, multiple organizations, and remote/WAN connectivity. The highest level of security is usually needed by engineering firms, life science industries, manufacturers, and by business in the financial industry.
Here, there are multiple organizations and multiple departments of it connected to each other.
